“You seemed to melt into part of our day.”

Hello!

I’m Stephen, a photojournalistic wedding photographer with a thousand weddings documented….and counting (and each one a unique story). Sometimes I feel as much a sociologist as a photographer, because I’ve seen just about every style and culture of wedding you can imagine. I’m lucky to be able to do what I love every day.

I pride myself on being a keen observer of people and weddings; knowing when an emotional, funny, or memorable moment might be coming, so I can have my camera to my eye before the moment happens (and is gone in the blink of an eye). Photojournalistic wedding photography is all about the ability to anticipate moments before they happen….often the best moments at a wedding are unplanned, and only happen for a split second. In wedding photography, timing is everything!

Located in inner SE Portland, when I’m not at weddings, you can find me traveling the world, restoring my Victorian house, collecting Navajo turquoise, hiking in the NW forests, collecting music, doing yoga, or reading at my favorite coffee shop.

I’d love to hear about your wedding story.

Let’s Talk!

What my couples have to say…

“Your relaxed personality created a feeling of ease and comfort”

“You were great at helping me maintain a sense of whimsy. You, who have seen more weddings than I can count, made me feel like ours was unique and special.”

“I do not know how you did it, but you seemed to disappear. I can not imagine where you must have been standing to get the pictures you did. I am one who usually becomes awkward any time there is a camera in front of me. Your seeming invisibility meant that I am not camera conscious in any candid shot. I look natural and like I was having the time of my life…because I was!”

“Thank you Stephen for all you did to visually tell the story of our wedding, for us, our family, and our family yet to come.”

“You were able to completely capture the essence of one of the most beautiful days of our life together! As I look through the photos I am struck wondering how you were able to capture the shots because I hardly noticed your presence—you seemed to felt into part of our day. Working with you was a wonderful experience—I really felt you cared and listened to what I visualized happening. When I saw the final result, my feelings were confirmed—you not only heard me, you delivered more than I hoped for.”
